2017 USL Regular Season (Week Fourteen)

Irvine, Calif. (June 22, 2017) After showing they have what it takes to stand against the L.A. Galaxy, one of Major League Soccer’s toughest opponents, in the 4th Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, Orange County SC returns home this weekend to face off against Seattle Sounders FC 2 on Saturday.  The match is set to be the first of three at home for Orange County who has been on a bye for the last three weeks.

It will be the first time Goalkeeper Charlie Lyon will go against his former club since making the move from Seattle to Orange County.  Lyon, once a pillar for Seattle, played 41 times over the past two seasons, has demonstrated he is a force to be reckoned with.  With just eight games in the books for Orange County, Lyon has earned two USL Save of the Week nominations and was selected to USL’s Week 9 Team of the Week.

Saturday’s match comes in the wake of Orange County’s battle against the L.A. Galaxy in the fourth round Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.  It was long-time Orange County veteran defender, Roy Meeus Bond, who scored for Orange County when he circled back toward the top of the 18-yard box on a creative corner kick and fired a left-footed blast into the net.  Orange County SC is set to play another two games at home before heading on the road in mid-July.

Following Saturday’s match, Orange County will meet Portland Timbers 2 at the Orange County Great Park on Saturday, July 1st at 5:00 PM.
