Orange County Soccer Club added 26-year old forward Darwin Jones on Tuesday. Jones joins OCSC after spending two years with Seattle Sounders FC, Major League Soccer, and one year with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, USL Eastern Conference.
“We are excited to add Darwin to our talented roster, and bolster our attacking options. Darwin is a dynamic winger who has a proven track record in this league, and we are convinced he will have a significant impact for us!,” said OCSC General Manager and EVP Oliver Wyss.
Born in Chicago but raised in the Seattle area, Jones finished his college career at the University of Washington while simultaneously playing in the USL PDL for the Seattle Sounders Under-23 team.
In 2015, Jones turned professional and signed a homegrown contract with the Sounders, making his pro debut in the USL for Seattle Sounders 2. That season, he made 15 appearances and scored five goals for S2 and also appeared in nine MLS matches for the Sounders.
Jones then spent the majority of the 2016 season with Sounders 2, playing in 19 matches and scoring seven goals. He also appeared in two MLS matches for the MLS Cup Champion Sounders.
In 2017, Jones appeared in 23 matches for the Tampa Bay Rowdies which finished third in the Eastern Conference. In April 2018, Jones joined Swedish second tier club IFK Varnamo.
