IRVINE, Calif. (October 3, 2018) – For its regular season home finale this Saturday, October 6th, Orange County SC will host Seattle Sounders FC 2 at Championship Soccer Stadium. Orange County looks to extend its franchise record-breaking marks in wins and points in a season as well as its lead at the top of the USL’s Western Conference table, entering Saturday’s match one point ahead of Phoenix Rising FC which will take on Reno 1868 FC on Saturday.
Orange County SC defeated Las Vegas Lights FC 5-3 at Cashman Field in downtown Las Vegas last week, clinching the first home playoff match in OC pro soccer history. Forwards Michael Seaton and Thomas Enevoldsen scored braces against Lights FC, with midfielder Aodhan Quinn adding a goal as well.
Sounders FC 2 are eliminated from playoff contention this year, dropping a result over the past weekend to San Antonio FC 3-1. 17-year-old midfielder Azriel Gonzalez scored the lone Seattle goal. S2 will host LA Galaxy II tonight before traveling south for Saturday’s matchup.
In the previous meeting this season, Orange County and Seattle played to a 1-1 draw over Labor Day weekend. Midfielder Jesse Daley scored for S2, and Quinn equalized for OC.
“Like all USL Western Conference games, this weekend’s match will not be easy,” said Orange County SC Head Coach Braeden Cloutier. “S2 posed a tough challenge last month when we faced off in Tacoma. We still have the focus of taking it one game at a time, and we know that all 3 points are needed Saturday to help achieve our goal of winning the West. We also have the motivation of securing a second potential home playoff game. It’s been a fantastic season so far, and our fans have been a massive part of it. We want to give them a great night to remember.”
