Jamie Maggio from CBS joined the Orange County Soccer Club Community Foundation at one of the OCSCCF/AESC after-school soccer quarter-final playoff matches between Horace Mann Elementary & Olive Street Elementary schools in Anaheim.

For several years now, OCSC and the Orange County Soccer Club Community Foundation have been working with the Anaheim Elementary School District to provide a coed after-school soccer league for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders at 23 schools. The program is a partnership between the Foundation and the school district, with OCSCCF providing coaches, referees, and organizational support for the league.

The AESC Soccer championship game between Ponderosa and Westmont elementary schools will be played on Wednesday, April 30^th.  We’re excited to see which school will raise the championship trophy!

Orange County SC faced Las Vegas Lights FC in their debut match for the USL Jägermeister Cup. Despite fierce efforts from the Orange & Black, the team fell to Las Vegas 3-1.

Las Vegas opened up the scoring in the 14th minute when Rory O’Driscoll scored on a right-footed shot from the right side of the box to the top left corner. He was assisted by Christian Pinzón with a headed pass following a corner. 

Ben Barjolo, who made his first start for the club, looked to answer on a run but was taken out by Makiek Howell just outside the box, resulting in a yellow card for the Las Vegas defender and a free kick for OC.

Las Vegas took a 2-0 lead in the 34’ minute on a ​​Christian Pinzón header from the center of the box to the top left corner. Assisted by Valentin Noël with a cross.

In 45’+1 minute, Las Vegas fouled Mouhamadou War inside the box, and Cameron Dunbar converted the PK to put OC on the board before halftime.

A handball by Ryan Doghman in the penalty area in the 54’ minute resulted in a goal by Johnny Rodriguez with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner just past a diving Colin Shutler.

Raiko Arozarena took out Lyam MacKinnon inside the box in the 78’ minute. MacKinnon went to the spot, and his shot was saved by Arozarena. Bryce Jamison got the rebound and fired a shot on target, but Arozarena was able to knock it away.

In the 90’ minute, OCSC subbed on 17-year-old Gavin Karam for his professional debut. Karam showcased skill and strength and held his own against Vegas’ older, more physical players.

The match ended after four minutes of added injury time. The County Boys led in possession 55%, while Las Vegas held 45%. OCSC also had the majority of shots with 17 to Vegas’ 5, with 7 of OC’s shots being on target. 

The Jägermeister Cup dream is not yet over for Orange County SC as they have three more group matches, the next being against Monterey Bay FC up north on May 31st.

OCSC is back for another home game at Championship Soccer Stadium on Saturday, May 3rd, for Star Wars Night. They will face Tulsa FC in what will be an out-of-this-world match. For more information and tickets, click HERE.

Orange County SC travelled to the Bay Area for an in-state rivalry match with Oakland Roots SC. The Roots obviously watched Tuesday’s OCSC US Open Cup match and adopted a similar strategy, fouling OC early and often. Hammering the visitors in a very physical first half that led to the only 2 goals Oakland would need to grab 3 points on the afternoon.

In the 10’ minute, Wolfgang Prentice opened the scoring, capitalizing on an error and open net, for his fourth goal of the season. The home side maintained pressure, and in the 31’ minute, Peter Wilson doubled the lead with his first goal of the season, making it 2-0. Despite Orange County SC holding 65% possession, they struggled to convert, managing five shots with only one on target and missing a big chance. Oakland, with just 35% possession, were more clinical, converting two of their three shots on target from four total attempts. At halftime, the score stood at 2-0, with Oakland Roots firmly in command.

The second half saw Orange County SC push for a comeback, but Oakland’s defense remained resolute. The Orange & Black increased their shot count to ten but failed to test Oakland’s goalkeeper significantly. Oakland Roots, content to protect their lead, focused on counterattacks and maintained discipline at the back. Despite OC’s aggressive attack and dominance of possession, Oakland grinded out the result to secure the clean sheet.

The 110th Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup heats up as Orange County SC (USL Championship) travels to Lancaster Municipal Stadium to face USL League One newcomers AV ALTA FC on Tuesday, April 15, at 10:00 PM ET. This 3rd Round match pits a seasoned second-division side against an ambitious underdog looking to make a name in their debut season.

Orange County SC enters the match fresh off a 2-1 USL Championship victory over Sacramento Republic FC on April 12. This will be OCSC’s 13th appearance in

The US Open Cup, the club has qualified for the competition every year since 2011.

With a lineup featuring standouts like goalkeeper Colin Shutler and midfield engine Chris Hegardt, OCSC will look to control the tempo and exploit their experience against lower-division opponents. Coming off a tightly contested 1-0 preseason win over AV Alta FC, Orange County knows not to underestimate their hosts.

For Orange County SC, a win keeps their hopes alive for a deep Cup run and a shot at the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup berth awarded to the champion, plus a share of the $1 million purse.

BUDDING RIVALRY

This is the first competitive meeting between the 2 local clubs. AV Alta FC currently plays in USL League One with aspirations to move into the USL Championship or USL Premier when the league implements Pro/Rel in 2028. AV Alta FC has built a fortress in Lancaster, so traveling OCSC fans should expect a raucous crowd looking to cheer the home team on to a cupset.

AV Alta FC top goal scorer Jimmie Villalobos will be ineligible to play in the round 3 match due to a 120’ red card he received in the club’s round 2 win over LAFC2. With Villalobos unavailable, AV Alta FC will look to former OCSC center forward Alexis Cerritos, who played in 3 games for the Orange & Black in 2020.

OCSC CUP DREAMS

OCSC looks to make it into the Round of 32 for the 4th time in club history and earn a chance to face an MLS club. Although based on current seeding, an MLS matchup isn’t likely until the Round of 16. OCSC will look to Bryce Jamison and Lyam MacKinnon to lead the attack against AV Alta FC and will expect the defense to stand tall in support of net minder Colin Shutler. Look for Cameron Dunbar to return to the lineup and newcomer Vuk Latinovich to see more time on the back line. Youngsters Pedro Guimaraes, Ben Barjolo, and Ashton Miles should also feature in the result.

Sacramento and OCSC met for the 28th time on Saturday night in front of a packed house, ready to celebrate Gnarly’s birthday party. The game was a tightly contested competition with Orange County SC edging out Sacramento Republic FC with a 2-1 victory.

The game started at a fast pace, with teams trading counterattacks. The game’s first big chance came in the 4th minute when Ousmane Sylla’s strike went just wide of the net.

In the 8th minute, Bryce Jamison sped down the field but blasted his shot over the bar. Orange County SC kept up the pressure in the 10th minute, as MacKinnon linked up with Ethan Zubak, whose on-target effort was parried away by Sacramento goalkeeper Danny Vitiello.

Sacramento responded in the 12th minute with their first shot on target, comfortably saved by Orange County SC goalkeeper Colin Shutler.

OCSC responded with a counter of their own on another Jamison breakaway in the 15th minute, but his cross to Zubak was just out of reach, resulting in a goal kick for Sacramento.

OCSC wasn’t done with its attack, and in the 18th minute, Kyle Scott started another counterattack with a pass to Ryan Doghman, who then delivered a perfectly placed ball to Ethan Zubak, leading to the first score of the game, OCSC up 1-0 —OCSC’s first goal in 3 games.

Despite Sacramento’s efforts to respond, Orange County’s defense held firm, with their goalkeeper making a crucial save to preserve the lead. Heading into halftime, Orange County led 1-0, though Sacramento showed signs of life late in the half.

The second half began with the same intensity as the first, as Bryce Jamison unleashed a powerful right-footed shot on target in the 48th minute. The ball deflected off Sacramento defender Blake Willey, who slid in an attempt to block it, resulting in an own goal that put Orange County SC ahead 2-0.

Sacramento Republic FC responded with renewed purpose, pushing for a goal, and their persistence paid off when Sebastian Herrera’s header from the center of the box narrowly slid past Shutler and into the left corner, putting Sacramento on the board 1-2. 

In the 76th minute, Colin Shutler and the OCSC defense fought off a flurry of point-blank shots on target, finally deflecting the ball out of play, leading to a Sacramento corner kick. Shutler was shaken up on the play but was okay and remained in the game, and the corner kick was cleared, allowing OCSC time to regroup and counter.

Sacramento pressed desperately in the final minutes, but Orange County’s defense stood tall, securing the three points at home.

OCSC will join the 3rd round of the US Open Cup on Tuesday when the Orange and Black travel to Lancaster, CA, to face off against USL League One rivals AV Alta FC. On Saturday night, Orange County SC headed to the desert for the first of many meetings against Las Vegas Lights FC this season. The Orange and Black had a decent showing, holding the bulk of the possession for the majority of the game. Unfortunately, they gave away a late goal to the home team in what would be a second disappointing loss for OCSC.

Throughout the match, both teams had opportunities but struggled to convert. Las Vegas Lights managed three shots on goal compared to Orange County SC’s one. Possession was nearly even, with Las Vegas holding a slight edge late in the game.

OCSC had a big chance in the 32’ minute on a free kick from Chris Hegardt that was headed on frame by Ethan Zubak, but it hit the crossbar and bounced over for a goal kick.

Las Vegas responded with a shot on target from Christian Pinzon in the 38’ minute, but Colin Shutler was able to parry it over the net for his first save of the night.

Just before halftime, Johnny Rodriguez made a shot wide right of the net that could have been the go-ahead goal, and Ousmane Sylla responded with a shot on frame that was deflected over the net by Raiko Arozarena, leaving things knotted at 0-0 heading into the break.

The second half started strong with Sylla connecting with Hegardt, who fed the ball into the center of the box for Lyam MacKinnon with a big right-footed shot that went just over the bar.

The game went back and forth for the remainder of the half until the 90”+3 when Nighte Pickering scored the game winner on a left footed shot from the left side of the box into the high centre of the goal on an assist by Gennaro Nigro following a fast break. 

The final whistle blew, and OCSC was unable to answer.

IRVINE, CA (APRIL 4, 2025) – Orange County Soccer Club today announced the transfer of 19-year-old winger Bryce Jamison to Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids. The move for one of the USL Championship’s most celebrated young attacking players is one of the highest in league history.

As part of the deal, Jamison will be loaned back to OCSC for the 2025 season to continue his development.

Jamison joined OCSC at 16 years of age from the Barça Residency Academy in Arizona. The teenage winger signed alongside former OCSC forward Korede Osundina, who transferred to the Dutch Champions Feyenoord last year.

The teenager quickly made an impact in orange and black, becoming the youngest goal scorer in club history at 16 years and 9 months old. Across four seasons, the Atlanta, Georgia native made 69 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists.

His performances also earned him seven caps with the United States U17 national team, including a part in the team that competed at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup. ​

“This is a great opportunity for me, obviously I want to play at the highest level and this is another opportunity for me to showcase my talents and abilities,” Said Jamison. “I’m excited to be joining the Colorado Rapids and working towards playing in the MLS. I’m grateful to OCSC in helping me get this far and the opportunities they have given me. It is great that I get to stay with OCSC to continue my development for the rest of the 2025 season.”

The transfer underscores OCSC’s Pro Player Pathway and strong commitment to developing young talent. Jamison’s move to the Colorado Rapids reflects the growing recognition of USL Championship players and the league’s growing status in the broader American soccer ecosystem.​

This collaboration aims to enhance OCSC’s professional player development pathway by providing a direct route for the best young players at Strikers to transition from youth soccer to the professional game.
