IRVINE, Calif.  – Orange County SC has agreed to terms on a multi-year deal with San Diego native and former Black Pool FC and Fleetwood Town player with the League One of English Football, Sebastien Des Pres, the team announced today. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“I’m very excited to add Sebastien to our team. He has trained with us over the past month and has shown that he has the character and work ethic that we are looking for. He is a young player that plays with a maturity that is rare to find. He will be a fantastic addition to an already strong midfield,” said Orange County SC Head Coach Braeden Cloutier.

Des Pres a midfielder from San Diego has played the last couple seasons overseas with Black Pool FC and Fleetwood Town. His signing highlights a priority of the club in building a team around young local talent to provide them the chance to compete against more experienced professionals and help to create a path to other professional opportunities.

“I’m really excited to be back home in sunny California with the opportunity to play for Orange County SC,” said Orange County SC Midfielder Sebastien Des Pres. “The coaches have been really good to me since I have been back, and it’s a competitive environment for me to continue my training and hopefully prepare myself for the next step in my soccer career.”

F – Thomas Enevoldsen, Orange County SC: Enevoldsen finished tied for second in the league with 20 goals at a chance conversion rate of 28.99 percent, while also recording nine assists and 63 chances created as he played every minute of the regular season.

M – Aodhan Quinn, Orange County SC: Quinn played every minute of the regular season to lead OCSC to a first-place finish as he recorded 11 goals and 14 assists while leading the league with 103 chances created and finished second among outfield players with 289 possession recoveries.

With everyone in the attacking half, including nine players in the box, midfielder Aodhan Quinn’s free kick bounced around in the penalty area before finding Hashimoto. He was able to get a shot on goal, but it was saved less than 30 seconds before the final whistle blew.

As they typically do, Orange County dominated possession (67-33%) and passing accuracy (83-66%). They also out-crossed Phoenix by a staggering 35 to 8. When asked about Phoenix's the early goal, Richard Chaplow said "they obviously took advantage of it by sitting back and inviting the pressure and we weren't able to break the deadlock in the end."

Despite the loss, this season was a record-breaking one for Orange County SC. They set new franchise-bests in points, wins, advanced the farthest in the postseason and attendance. The club was also able to ensure a promising 2019 and beyond by signing extensions with head coach Braeden Cloutier, midfielder Aodhan Quinn, and forward Michael Seaton. Reflecting after the loss Clouther said "we had a fantastic season, a great run in the playoffs, and if given this opportunity at the beginning of the season, we've would have taken it.  We opened a lot eyes around the league and we have a good basis now from to build on for the future."

On Saturday, Orange County SC will host Phoenix Rising FC at Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine with a place in the USL Cup final on the line. Neither club has ever appeared in the championship match.

Orange County SC, the top seed out West, played a grueling, defensive battle against Reno 1868 FC in the last round, advancing with a 1-0 victory. Midfielder Aodhan Quinn provided the only score of the match. In the first round, OC dominated Saint Louis FC 4-0, including a hat-trick from forward Michael Seaton. For the match against Rising FC, midfielder Richard Chaplow feels the Jamaican striker’s limited appearance against Reno was a big reason there weren’t more goals scored. “Obviously, missing Mike Seaton in the second half vs Reno affected us a bit. He was fantastic for us against St Louis,” Chaplow explained.

Phoenix brings their high-scoring attack to Southern California coming off two decisive postseason victories. Last week, Rising FC defeated Swope Park Rangers 4-2 in Arizona to eliminate the two-time reigning Western Conference champions. Before that, they handled Portland Timbers 2 by way of a 3-0 scoreline. Forwards Jason Johnson and Didier Drogba each scored a goal in both matches, with a goal apiece for winger Solomon Asante, midfielder Kevon Lambert, and forward Chris Cortez. When asked what his club needs to do to slow down Rising FC’s explosive attack, Orange County head coach Braeden Cloutier said, “We will need to be aware of Phoenix's threat from counter attacks with their pace on flanks.”

The regular season series between these clubs could not be any closer. In the season opener for each side, the match resulted in a 1-1 draw in Irvine. Solomon Asante opened the scoring in the first half for Phoenix and defender Alex Crognale equalized late. Rising would take the next match, courtesy of an early Chris Cortez goal. OCSC could not take advantage of an early red card issued to Phoenix’s Kody Wakasa. After low scoring affairs in their two previous meetings, the final matchup of the regular season tallied provided seven goals. Orange County won the match 4-3 with two goals from Michael Seaton and one from both Aodhan Quinn and forward Thomas Enevoldsen. Asante scored a hat trick for Phoenix. 

The match will feature soccer legend Didier Drogba's final professional appearance in Southern California after announcing his retirement earlier this season.

Up next.   A much-anticipated heavyweight fight between Orange County and number-3 seed Rising FC to determine who wins the USL Western Conference and moves on to the USL Cup. The match will also feature the scheduled final appearance in Southern California by former Ivory Coast international and Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba, who has announced his professional retirement after the season. The clubs met three times in the regular season and the series split evenly, one win apiece and a draw to open the season. Seaton is coming off a career game where he scored his first professional hat trick in a 4-0 quarter-final playoff victory over Saint Louis FC.  Seaton was among the teams scoring leaders in 2018.
