Orange County SC came back from a one-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw against El Paso Locomotive FC on Saturday, May 21 at Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine. The result capped a three-match undefeated homestand in May.
Milan Iloski and Cubo Torres both scored for OCSC in the second consecutive match. Iloski’s goal total increased to seven on the season, while Cubo’s goal count increased to five.
As the match reached the half hour mark, Iloski received the ball from Seth Casiple at the top of the penalty box and put a shot on net. It took an OCSC bounce and skipped over El Paso’s goalkeeper. After scoring a first half hat trick in OCSC’s previous match, Iloski was named Championship Player of the Week presented by Konami eFootball.
In the second half, El Paso clawed their way back into the match with a goal off a counter-attack from Luis Solignac and a second by Diego Luna. The El Paso lead only lasted eight minutes.
OCSC pushed forward onto the attack and got their equalizer in the 78’ after Cubo cleaned up a ball that was bouncing off of players just in front of goal. Cubo’s fifth goal of the season got all 4,470 fans at Championship Soccer Stadium on their feet.
The point at home keeps OCSC within the middle of the pack in the Western Conference standings.
OCSC will play their next matches on the road against Atlanta United 2 on Friday, May 27 and Oakland Roots SC on Wednesday, June 1. They will return to Championship Soccer Stadium on Saturday, June 4 with kickoff at 6:00pm against New Mexico United, tickets are still available at orangecountysoccer.com/tickets.
