Orange County Soccer Club will play at Championship Soccer Stadium for ten more years, following a City of Irvine Council decision yesterday.
The USL Club secured a landmark agreement with the City which ensures the club’s future in the city it has called home for the past ten years. OCSC, who have played in front of sellout crowds of 5,500 people the last five Saturdays of the season, have been working closely with City of Irvine staff for nearly 12 months on the new deal.
This deal both guarantees the club’s future, but also confers additional branding and sponsorship opportunities for the club.
“We are delighted to ink this deal that gives our fans and our community the security and certainty they’ve craved for so long,” OCSC President of Business Operations Dan Rutstein said. “The last 12 months have been an uncertain time for our fans and we’re delighted to have secured this new deal. We’re incredibly grateful to the Great Park Board, the Irvine City Council, as well as the City of Irvine Staff, led by City Manager Oliver Chi. Our fans wake up today knowing we will be playing at this beautiful stadium until 2033 – when we will be able to have a 20-year celebration.”
The club will be celebrating the new deal at their home playoff game on October 21 with a ‘Bring It Home’ night as Championship Stadium hosts Orange County SC’s first round Western Conference Quarterfinal playoff game at 7:30 PM. The match will feature Irvine-based food trucks and other celebrations of the City. Get your tickets today, here.
“I am proud of the partnership between the City of Irvine and Orange County Soccer Club,” City of Irvine Mayor Farrah N. Khan said. “This agreement not only cements OCSC’s place in our community, but also showcases Irvine’s commitment to fostering a vibrant sports culture, unity, and community engagement. I am confident that OCSC will continue to be a beacon of pride for Irvine residents.”
