Orange County SC returns home to Championship Stadium at The Great Park in Irvine to square off with in-state rival Sacramento Republic FC as a part of Gnarly’s Birthday Party on Saturday, April 20 at 7:00 PM PDT. It’s another tale in the story between these two longtime rivals who currently sit 1 and 2 in the West, so be sure to grab your popcorn…or maybe a slice of Gnarly’s birthday cake!
NOBODY LIKES A PARTY CRASHER
Sacramento Republic FC come to town in 2nd place in the USL Championship Western Conference, level on points with the Black and Orange. Not only is SacRepublic level on points with OCSC, but they have mirrored results in each of the previous six matchweeks. Sacramento is off the heels of a 1-1 draw with FC Tulsa at Heart Health Park last Saturday. The Republic are likely feeling a tad displeased with the result, given that they had a man advantage from the 16th minute after Tulsa midfielder Edwin Laszo was sent off. They are led up top by the potent forward duo of Trevor Amann and Russell Cicerone. Cicerone and defender Jack Gurr lead the Republic with 10 chances created each.

WHO’S NEXT TO THE GOAL SCORING PARTY?
Orange County SC retained their position on top of the USL Championship’s Western Conference after a hard fought point gained in San Antonio in a goalless draw last Saturday. 17-year-old goalkeeper Duran Ferree earned a clean sheet in his club debut, making three saves at Toyota Field. He was also named to the USL Championship Team of the Week bench for his performance. This is the second time in less than two months that these two longtime rivals will face each other, after goalkeeper Colin Shutler’s thrilling 96th minute equalizer in the Season Opener. These contests have been very close as of late, which plays into OCSC’s defensive strengths. As Gnarly turns three this Saturday, Orange County SC’s shutout streak extended to three matches after blanking SAFC. After being shutout for just the first time this season last Saturday, the Black and Orange will look to leading goal scorer Thomas Amang and the rest of their forward unit to get back on the scoreboard Saturday.
